Arnold Mammarella, Architecture + Consulting is an East Bay (Oakland-Berkeley) based practice serving cities and private clients in the Bay Area. Each project benefits from applying a broad understanding of architecture and urban design gained over a thirty-five year long career, mostly focused on residential architecture, housing design, neighborhood planning, and design review consulting to local government. Unique to this practice is the diversity of ideas acquired doing peer review on the design of over four thousand projects by hundreds of architects.
Whether designing a residence or consulting with a City, the goal of the work remains a constant: Thoughtfully working towards solutions that better people’s lives and enhance communities.
In general, my approach to design is contextually responsive, yet personal and imaginative—carefully attending to environmental, aesthetic, and place-making concerns. I am equally comfortable designing in consideration of architecture based on modern or traditional precedents based on project circumstances or client preferences.
