Residential Architecture
A new home or addition provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a family’s quality of life and enhance a neighborhood. A dwelling can be more than a collection of rooms, it can be part of one’s emotional and spiritual life and should contribute to one’s well-being in expected and unexpected ways.
The design process starts with understanding a client’s needs, lifestyle and preferences, existing site and building conditions, environmental factors, and budget considerations. Then comes the task of creatively applying fundamental principles of good design to transform those considerations into physical space and form.
My approach recognizes the personal journey each client takes when embarking on a new home or addition, and the importance of collaboration to making that journey a success. I remember that a house is also a home; and therefore, aim for practical, visually pleasing forms and spaces that resonate with a homeowners’ wishes and lift the spirit. To the task I bring extensive experience and knowledge of residential architectural styles and traditions found throughout California as well as modern architecture and environmental aspects of home design, such as passive solar design.
Full architectural services as well as design consultations are offered to individuals and quality builders. Project types and experience include new homes, hillside homes, additions, interior architecture, exterior spaces such as gardens and courts and custom casework and furniture.
